*******

Terry is quite a presence. He is really big and walks around the volunteer yard like he owns the place. He is playful at times and loves to shred anything he can get ahold of so we often had our things hanging in the trees in hopes that he wouldn’t get them. He destroys everything, but he is so cute when he does it that you can’t really get mad at him. He is having so much fun! We had hours of entertainment just watching him. Terry was found in the Bubye Valley Conservancy with a broken wing. Two different veterinarians were consulted and they tried to strap the wing. After a few weeks it was not getting better and Terry was in a lot of pain. They decided the only option was to amputate and were unsure if he would survive the operation, but it was the only option left. He did survive and will always be a permanent resident at Free to be Wild. Lappet-faced vultures are endangered. They are often poisoned by carcasses they eat and are struggling in the wild. I never thought I would say that a vulture was lovable and handsome, but Terry proved me wrong.
