Ingrid, a board member of Romanian Animal Rescue, was touring the countryside in 2015 with volunteers participating in a large spay and neuter clinic.  While visiting a small village in Romania, a tiny, two-month-old puppy suddenly crossed the street in front of them. Ingrid and her friend quickly jumped out of the van, gently coaxing the frightened pup to come to them. She was skin and bones, her fur severely matted. Ingrid wrapped her in a warm jacket, reassuring her that she was safe. They decided to name her Roxie. Roxie was taken to the Homeless Animal Hospital, where she received vaccinations and much-needed medical care. That night, Ingrid secretly brought Roxie into her hotel room. By the next day, Ingrid knew she couldn’t leave Roxie behind and made the heartfelt decision to adopt her.

Once Roxie was spayed and healthy, Ingrid brought her home to the United States.  Roxie was a free spirit, incredibly intelligent, and deeply affectionate. Their journey together was a testament to fate, kindness, and the unbreakable bond between them.
